Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Bear & Ragged StaffExceptional07 May 2013 The complete dark beer. Perfect balance and body, great fruity and malty and darker tastes. Straight out of the barrel and spot on.
Bear & Ragged StaffExceptional04 May 2013 The beer of the festival for me. Very deep ruby red in colour. The flavour is a complementing mixture of fruit, hops and malt all in perfecr balance. Great condition, straight from the barrel. Superb.

Bear & Ragged StaffGood01 Jan 2012 Not quite as I remember it. A bit thin on body and the dark tastes weren't as full as I expected, then again I think this is a dark mild so perhaps they shouldn't be too full on. Didn't punch its 6.0% weight.

IanGood12 Aug 2006 I have seen this at a lot of festivals, but never had it. Black/ruby colour with lasting beige head. Bit of sickly malt. No real hop but dryish finish. Syrupy malt. In fact very syrupy malt. Couldn't drink too much of this. Nothing bad at all about it, but it's like liquid malt.
