Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

IanAcceptable29 Jan 2008 Deep ruby/brown with little beige head. Roasty stout. Maybe overly roasted with liquorice too. Some condition. But a little thin in mouth. Too much liquorice for my liking. Toffee, caramel aroma, maybe a touch of diacetyl. Odd and not to my taste.

The Willow Walk, Victoria, Central London

IanExcellent23 Feb 2005 Excellent stout with all the flavours and texture of a stout, but with extra body, flavour and finish

Hook Norton Double Stout

4.80% ABV.

Smooth and full-bodied with a refreshing hoppy aftertaste. A blend of dark malts give it a character all of it’s own. Black malt enriches the colour and teases the palate, and brown malt gives it the dryness.

We have tried this beer 14 times.

We have given this beer an average score of Good to Excellent.
