Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Philip PirripGood20 Dec 2015 Last half (and a bit) out of cask and still eminently drinkable

The New Cross Turnpike, Welling, Greater London

WhoScoreWhenNotes
Philip PirripGood10 Dec 2022 Fine form but as you will see the second one cooler and fresher probably due to the long line pulls to the cellar
Philip PirripExcellent10 Dec 2022 Second pint just that much cooler and fresher
Philip PirripExcellent09 Dec 2022 Spot on dark winter brew

The Gate Clock, Greenwich, Greater London

Philip PirripNot Tried01 Dec 2019 Clip showing so ordered it, to be told it was not available. No attempt to remove clip or turn clip round. What do we need to do to get into JDW's thickheads that this is an appalling practice?

IanExcellent22 Dec 2007 Looks in cracking condition. Very deep ruby colour with lasting beige head. Flavour of rich malt liquorice. It really is rather good. Aroma has some sour dark fruits. Good in mouth. Slightly sweet to balance the sour fruit. Nice hop kick on the finish. Warming English winter beer. Good stuff
