Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

RayExcellent21 Jan 2010 Poured ruby-red beer. Floral, fruity aromas with hints of toffee. Juicy biscuit malt taste melded with fruity hops and a long, spicy finish.

McGarglePoor16 Oct 2014 Looked great but no trademark fruitiness and lots of cardboard. Stale?? Just the thing to put new ale drinkers off for life.
McGargleNot Tried23 Jan 2014 Drank Erdinger instead. Maybe should have stuck with Red McG. At least it would have been cheaper!
McGargleGood04 Apr 2013 As good as Red McGregor gets. Good bitterness, rich autumn fruits.
McGargleAcceptable22 Sep 2010 Overly chilled the beer tasted a bit clumsy. Long lasting creamy head, good fruit and some hops overlaid with some harshness.

McGarglePoor20 Aug 2010 This was an odd one. No hints of summer fruits here just booming tannic aroma and flavours of red wine - strong autumn fruits. Think cheap Shiraz and you're close.

CharlesExcellent19 Mar 2006 A clear "excellent" for this one. Don't think I've ever had a bad pint of this. Balanced but bursting with flavour. Acres of malty red velvet with a rousing massed hop chorus. Very generous with the ingredients me thinks.
