These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Martin the MildmanExcellent04 May 2010 Full bodied ruby mild with great depth of flavour. Fruitiness and a little chocolate from the malt lead to a dryish, vineous finish. My score 16/20.

BlairExcellent27 Mar 2009 This is a fantastic beer, tasted even better than when I had it at the Dover beer festival. Soft and fruity with a lovely velvety chocolate flavour. Dangerously easy to drink.
KBExceptional27 Mar 2009 My goodness what a superb pint. The taste and colour(note Martyn) are first class. Recommend anyone to try this.
KenExceptional25 Mar 2009 The Ruby Mild is a deliciously mellow, rich ale which hides its 6% exceedingly well, till one opens ones mouth to speak!

DubbelExcellent23 Feb 2009 Yes yes yes, a vast improvement on earlier batches. Much more smooth and a pleasant rum-chocolate flavour, touch of port and warming spice. A sheer joy to sup.
DubbelGood26 Jan 2009 Nice again. Had mellowed slightly over the weekend but I still prefer the Sarah Hughes effort.
DubbelGood23 Jan 2009 Deep ruby, strong red malts dominate a complex vineous, full bodied finish. Has potential to grow on me.

BlairExcellent06 Feb 2009 Strong, dark mild. Really good chocolate and roast malt flavours. I have to admit I was mildly disappointed (excuse the pun) although that's just a testament to how great dark star are when a 4 out of 5 beer is a disappointment.
IanGood06 Feb 2009 Very deep ruby colour with bubbly cream head. Some syrupy malt on aroma. It's good. Good condition. Really nice fruit, damson and dark plum. Not really my style of beer, but very nice nevertheless.
