These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Martin the MildmanExcellent07 May 2011 Dark brown with a sweet caramel toffee flavour tempered by a little roasty bitterness. Sweetish, fruity finish makes this still a classic North West mild. £2.10/pint. My score 16/20.
Martin the MildmanGood14 May 2010 Dark brown with a notably bitter edge and also some roast malt. Dryish finish. £1.91/pint. My score 15/20.

Martin the MildmanExcellent23 May 2010 Unusual to find this away from the tied estate, but in much better condition here than most tied pubs! The malt really comes through in this sample with caramel and liquorice flavours and the characteristic dry finish. My score 16/20.

ChrisENot Tried18 Dec 2009 I had just had a very disappointing pint of Mild in one of the nearby Holts pubs and decided to stick to bitter for the rest of the day.

BlairGood27 Jun 2009 Dark and fruity mild, quite malty and realy quite drinkable.

IanGood11 Feb 2009 Black, very dark brown, lasting beige bubbly head. A proper dark mild from up north, so interested to have it. It's really drinkable, a bit cola-ish. But decent acidity. Some roasted malt. I've ahd a lot worse beers today. Quite a decent interersting light in ABV dark mild, ok dark fruits.

AndrewAcceptable22 Jul 2006 Dark mild. Can't work out if this is on the turn or not. It's a bit acidic but a bit fruity too. Tastes of sharp plum skins with a bitter finish
