Not that busy but all the 40-somethings (who incidentally all worked in a 1950 cycle factory) walking around on their mobile phones made it seem so.

Mid-afternoon visit. The pub holds regional ‘Beeriodicals’ in the first week of every month, and my visit coincided with the tail end of a focus on Lakeland breweries. My pen ran out of ink, so notes are a bit sketchy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Winster Valley - Old School3.90Good
Eden River (formerly Eden) - Fuggle3.80GoodThe concept of ‘single hop’ beers is now well-established. But Fuggles is an unusual choice. This beer showcased the slightly spicy flavours available from this traditional English hop variety.
Kendal - Helga's3.70AcceptableBrown beer in the German Dunkel style.

Very pleased I went here. Bare boards, excellent range of beers and conversation. Evening visit 2150 hours.

12 May 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Another deflection from mild for a beer I've been after for a while. Busy as ever here and happy hour too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Two Cocks - 1643 Puritan Stout4.30GoodBlack stout with a dry roast malt character and a fairly thin mouthfeel. Dry roast finish. My score 15/20.
Buckingham - Mild4.00Not Tried
05 Mar 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy late on a Saturday afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Arbor Ales - Single Hop - Simcoe4.00ExcellentIntense citrus aroma leads to a superb fruity citrus hop flavour. Little malt balance but not really needed in this beer. My score 16/20 with B for quality as served too cold here.
Exit 33 (formerly The Brew Company then Sky's Edge) - Decanus4.20AcceptableA hoppy, bitter amber beer. Little malty character for balance, leading to a dry, hoppy finish. My score 14/20.
15 May 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy with a local musician playing in the pub. Friendly service and I was in time for "Happy Hour" with beers at £2.20/pint, cheapest of the day by a long way.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Rhymney - Dark4.00ExcellentVery good dark malty mild with good chocolate and roast malt flavours with a hint of fruit in the finish. My score 16/20.

One bar pub tucked away from the main drag into Bristol in Thomas Lane. Often has open mic for local musicians. Main attraction here though is the excellent range of beers, probably the best in Bristol.
