A busy Thursday evening, I was impressed by the number of people trying the ales, and admiring the decor of this unspoilt pub.

Well with new staff on duty this was a real disappointment. Locals and friends served: others ignored. A group of us walked out after waiting for more than 10 minutes.

The pub is found in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, AB10 1HF.

An Aberdeen real ale institution in St Nicholas Lane, it offers a much less adventurous selection of ales since the GK take-over. But still a must visit for its fine, long bar and friendly welcome. Basic pub grub served at lunchtimes.

We have visited this pub 19 times, seen 67 different beers and tried 15 of them.
