I always seem to experience this pub in the same circumstances: i) for a very swift pint when making a rail connection at Doncaster, and ii) sitting alone in the Smoke Room listening to everybody else having a good time in the main bar. I must try and have a proper drink here sometime.

The pub is found in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN1 3AH.

One of three pubs just away from the railway station - this one the furthest but only 3 minutes walk in St Sepulchre Gate. Won local CAMRA branch Town Centre Pub of the Season in Spring 2010. A pubco leased house enthusiastic for real ale which is part purchased through SIBA direct delivery. Recently threatened with demolition for a redevelopment of this neighbourhood - apparently thwarted at least for the moment. "We changed our Mayor" has been one quoted reason for the stay of execution. 5 handpumps on the bar. From June 2013 a 10% discount on real ales for card carrying CAMRA members plus 10% off Sunday dinners was introduced but has subsequently been withdrawn.

We have visited this pub 22 times, seen 59 different beers and tried 27 of them.
