We arrived 10 minutes before it opened so we sat outside the nearby castle and watched people take pictures of cannon. By the time we'd lost interest in that and wandered back to the pub it was already filling up. Popular.

Evening. A group was preparing to play live music. Looked like some huge portions of fish being doled out to some diners but for me food smells ruin what could be a most atmospheric pub.

Tuesday lunchtime to partake in all things scallopy.

The pub is found in Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7HH.
Found near the battlements facing out to sea this is a pretty little pub. Known locally as "The Wipers". Atmospheric location particularly at night. One large bar with facilities for dining towards the rear. Long associated with Whitbread being on one of its famous aluminium inn signs cards and once displayed the various inn signs maps on the wall. Has 6 handpumps on the bar counter. Regular live music played here. Outside drinking areas including some on the ramparts out the front.
We have visited this pub 15 times, seen 38 different beers and tried 20 of them.
