Just a classic pub and one of the "must do's" on any Liverpool pub crawl. Lovely gentle banter in the pub mid Friday afternoon. Excellent barmaid kept it all going together.

Stuck in Liverpool because of the snow we found this place because the Phiharmonic was closing early due to the blizzard, What a find, splendid little pub with excellent beers, warm and friendly welcome.

Classic side-street local, multi-roomed, untouched original pub decor and good selection of ales

| Hambleton - Village Brewer Raby Ale | 4.80 | | Very deep chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Roasty toasty ESB with rather lovely fruit. Wow, now that is a really good ESB. One of the best ESB aromas I’ve smelt. The toasty malt and deep jammy fruit are stunning. Full in mouth. If it had a peppery hop finish, I wouldn’t leave the pub. Drying hop on finish. Lovely malts throughout. |

All the other pubs didn't open til 12.00 so I found myself here at 11.20, the only punter in. I haven't been for ages, but it is a really lovely cosy pub.

| Northern (see also Blakemere) - Blakemere Snowy Owl | 4.10 | | Pale gold, lasting thin beige head. Came on the night before lateish apparently. Blond ale with grapefruit and tangerine citrus hops. A little bit too acidic for it’s own good, but the aroma is good. Little bit herby and the US hops on the finish are quite astringent. Not entirely balanced, but a decent stab. |

The pub is found in Liverpool, Merseyside, L1 2SX.
The pub has appeared in every CAMRA Good Beer Guide (since the first in 1974). It's a small pub on a side street off Hardman Street. As you go through the door, the small bar is to your left with 3 other small drinking rooms running off it. Cosy and well worth seeking out. 3 handpumps on main bar and 3 more on the bar of the front snug. In 2015 sold by Punch Taverns to NewRiver Retail which had lead to worries about its future and an active Save The Roscoe Head campaign started. Sold to the sitting tenant in November 2020.
