Here for a meal with my parents. This is one of my favourite pubs in Kent. A few years ago Goacher's Mild was a regular but now they have a rotating guest beer instead. The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever.

Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00GoodNice pint of Harvey's
Keltek - Golden Harvest3.60AcceptableHazy pale golden colour. Smelt of diacetyl. Buttery lemon flavours. Tart and dry.

The archtypical pub in the woods. As usual, we sat out in the garden, enjoying the fitful sunshine.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Frome (formerly Milk Street) - RA (was 4.3%)4.10ExcellentI asked the lady behind the bar if they'd got Goachers mild, she said it would be back, but they were revolving milds, and that this was in the mild slot. Not sure if it was a mild, but put me in mind of Rayments AK of many years ago. Golden honey, with an almost butterscotch texture and a suprisingly pronounced hoppy afterburn. Good to historic.
Loddon - Ferryman's Gold4.40AcceptableA golden ale which seemed to be a bit tired and unfocussed. When I went back to the bar for replenishments, it was no longer on.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00Not TriedUnusual for me to pass this one by

Jane, Isabel and I sat outside in the garden and had some lunch. The sun was shining and the apple blossom and blue bells were out. Great pub this with very friendly staff.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Moorhouse's - Black Cat Mild3.40ExcellentHad smoky bacon crisps about it. Excellent beer. A credit to the mid 3% brigade of beers.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentLots of fruity esters in this. Real orange peel and mandarin orange juice. Good earthy (but fuity) hop bite on the finish. Top stuff

What a glorious day. The sun was shining and there was no wind so we set off for Perry Wood for a nice walk and a pint. Surprisingly few others had the same idea. The pub was fairly busy but not as much as you see in the summer. We sat out in the garden under the big tree.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExcellentVery fruity and in excellent condition. The tell-tale yeast was there but the fruit-cake fruit dominated. Lovely.

Came for lunch with Jane and my parents. It was fairly busy which was good given the weather outside wasn't great. I like this pub and I think they care about their beer. I noticed that the next guest ale is Goacher's Dark. I like Goacher's Dark.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40ExcellentPlenty of coffee with hints of cream. Excellent pint that stayed good to the end.

Arrived at 12:30 for lunch with my wife and there were a few people eating. Within 15 minutes the place was nearly full with customers like ourselves having a meal - some even went outside! There was a warm friendly atmosphere and the open hearth wood fire was keeping the place pleasantly warm. The service was good and the food very good.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40ExcellentA smooth ale which went down well - dark but not too heavy.
Inveralmond - Ossian's Ale4.10ExcellentA fresh lively taste for this golden clear ale.

Came for Mother's Day and it was packed. The menu used as many local ingredients as possible and the staff were friendly.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Gold Star5.10ExceptionalSharp earthy orange peel hops and in excellent condition. Had hints of goacher's light but with a much sharper hop profile. Anyway it was stunning.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExcellentVery good condition. The hop-yeast-malt combination in this beer's excellent
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40GoodThe top of the pint was a bit sharp (so would have scored an 'okay') but the bottom was coffee, milk and a hint of chocolate (and would have scored excellent).

After visiting the 2 pubs in Chilham, Andrew and Jane picked me and Martin up and we all came here for a meal. Very quiet due to the rugby game being on. Good selection of beers and a blackboard telling you the guests coming up.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40GoodExcellent mild, not much hop, very mild and a good charcoaly aroma. Good roasted malt flavour with fullness in mouth.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00AcceptableJust a bit warm and bland.
Timothy Taylor - Boltmaker (formerly Best Bitter)4.00AcceptableBland bitter.

Came for a meal with Ian, Martin and Jane. Quite as England were playing France in the Rugby world cup semi-finals. Friendly pub with a fantastic setting.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40ExcellentThe first pint was off so they changed the barrel. The next 5 pints I had from the new barrel were lovely. Smooth and milky with good roasted malt, hint of smoke and burntness and a very low hoping rate. Missing any chocolate but hey, still a great pint.
