Fairly quiet on a Monday late lunchtime. Good hearty food here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Derventio - Neptune4.20AcceptablePale bitter with a spicy hop flavour that is not really to my taste. My score 13/20.
23 May 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Beer festival in progress.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Summer Wine (SWB) - Erebus Dark Mild4.50GoodDark brown strong mild. Bitter roast and chocolate malt dominates. My score 15/20 - B quality as served too warm from the festival stillage without much way of keeping the beer cool

Very busy with a queue to get to the bar. Lots of people drinking outside in the sun.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Rudgate - Liquid Sheep4.00GoodTastes better than it sounds, a well balanced pale bitter with good hop and malt flavours. My score 15/20.
Rudgate - Last Battle IPA4.40AcceptableQuite sweet and malty with a slight hint of diacetyl. My score 14/20.

Had to come back for more. As it was open until midnight we popped in for a nightcap after our ghost walk and excellent meal at Lucia. Once again both beers I tried were in top condition. I highly recommend it here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ossett - (Real Ale) Revolution I.P.A4.50ExceptionalGorgeous fruity golden IPA. Passion fruit, kiwi and lime with a brilliant crisp hop finish. Gives Dark Star APA a real run for its money in the flavour stakes.
Ossett - Cherry Porter4.50ExcellentDark sultry porter, nice roasted quality and a sensible, subtle infusion of cherry. Great apperatif.

Saw this advertised in the Ouse Boozer I picked up in The Maltings and was attracted by the Great Heck ales brewed exclusively for the pub. Unfortunately these weren't available but there were around 16 diverse cask ales on offer, many hadn't made it on from the beer festival the previous week. You'll forgive me for not listing them all - but all were carefully chosen from what I recognised as quality northern microbrewies.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Saltaire - Hazelnut Coffee Porter4.60ExcellentWow! Unusually light brown porter. Milky frappachino and sweet nutty notes. An inspired combo. One of the lightest bodied and easiest drinking porters I've come across.
Brampton - 13024.00GoodBarmaid told me that this had been one of their best sellers at the festival. Sunny gold, alcoholic whiff and stern bitter palate with characteristic classy malt. Sour finish.
