Gloomy. Great stuff. My favourite pub of the weekend.

Quite dark inside, but warm at least. There didn't seem to be many people in, but in fact once I'd moved around all the different levels it tuned out to be almost full.

Porter House - Hop Head5.00GoodNot sure if this should be here. Nice though, if cold and a bit fizzy.

I popped in here after work as I know it is a good place to watch early evening televised sport, before it gets too busy. Very pleased to find a rare seasonal cask beer from the Porterhouse Dublin brewery.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Porter House - Celebration Stout11.00ExceptionalI’ve long wanted to try this bottle-conditioned beer. It is a thick, fruity, black, roasted stout, massively enhanced by high alcohol levels and a strong, woody, vanilla tinge from aging in Kilbeggan whiskey casks. I’m struggling to remember the last time I tasted such a good beer.
Porter House - Seasca Bliain – Diamond Jubilee IPA4.80ExcellentAn Irish brewery producing a beer to celebrate 60 years of a British queen – whatever next! This is a copper-coloured, well-hopped beer with a bitter, hop-oil aftertaste.
Thwaites - Wainwright (please now use the Banks's entry)4.10Not Tried

There was an Irish beer festival going on so I stopped by for 3 Irish beers on tap. None were available on cask. But they did serve third pint samples which I thought was good.

I sat and watched England beat South Africa in the cricket so I had a great time.

Porter House - Wrasslers5.00GoodLovely dry stout

Someone had told me the Alt was on, so I had to go and try it having just been to Germany
BeerABVScoreNotes
Porter House - Wrasslers5.00ExcellentExcellent dry stout.
Porter House - Alt4.50PoorDeep gold, lasting creamy beige head. Now I’ve just been to Dusseldorf, home of alt and this is not like Uerige Alt at all. Too light in colour, none of the sharp flavours. No depth of malt, no herby hop. It’s a vague keg bitter.

Fairly busy inside but Tony, Martin and I eventually got a seat upstairs. Tony had the XXXX Wrasslers stout but said he'd have prefered the Plain Porter.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Porter House - Plain Porter4.30ExcellentExcellent. Hey, what more can I say?
Porter House - Wrasslers5.00Not TriedTony had this. It tasted like bottom of the barrel Goacher's Crown Imperial Stout. Very good.

Unfortunately the Wrasslers XXXX wasn't on. Here with a group from Ratebeer. We had some bottled beer from the Basque area of Spain, which were pretty poor.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Porter House - Oyster Stout4.80GoodRich and still a favourite to have.
Porter House - Chocolate Truffle Stout5.00AcceptableNow this was a lot thinner in colour and flavour than before. Not the liquidised Belgian choc truffle I remember. Still choc, but more milk choc and the body was no where near as good.

Although pretty busy we got a table on the mezzanine floor. Here with some people from a conference, so the beer was free.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Porter House - Plain Porter4.30ExcellentDrinkable and it great condition. Could have drunk this all night.
Porter House - Oyster Stout4.80ExcellentJust so much fuller and tastier and thicker than the plain porter and a nice filling pint.

Just got a table on the top floor. I had all of the 3 stouts plus a half of the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which was excellent.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Porter House - Wrasslers5.00ExcellentExtremely good dry stout.
Porter House - Plain Porter4.30GoodFine, drank it quickly and it slipped down easily.
Porter House - Oyster Stout4.80GoodVery rich and I really like that oyster edge to it.
