20 Apr 2014 (Stephen Harris)
Easter Sunday late afternoon and the pub is packed for a festival of Scottish beers. Scottish beers are not necessarily my favourites, but it would be poor form to have come all this way and not get stuck in.

Fyne - Maverick4.20GoodChestnut-coloured, fruity and spicy.

13 Oct 2010 (McGargle)
Very busy and friendly but one or two yappy dogs. 13 hand pumps is probably too many as some beers did not sell all night. No food available on this visit so if you're hungry it might be better to ring ahead.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Island Hopping3.90ExcellentStraw coloured with tight white head. Fresh aromas and citrus hops well balanced by light smooth malt.
Jarrow - Rivet Catcher4.00AcceptableLacking in freshness none of the citrus zest was apparent leaving a slightly aggressive flavour.
High House Barn (formerly High House Farm) - Cyril the Magnificent5.50AcceptableSupposedly a dunkel it was a hazy dark brown with none of the freshness of a German wheat beer.
Geltsdale - Tarnmonath4.00AcceptableGolden bitter with slight citrus aromas. Probably a little past its best.
Shepherd Neame - Spitfire (or Spitfire Amber Ale)4.20Not Tried
Bath Ales - Gem Bitter4.10Not Tried£1.99/pint.
