Just a quick one in here along with a handful of fellow Leyton Orient supporters, recently traumatised by an unfortunate match at Barnet.

Very close on becoming on one of my favourite pubs in London. Very busy and a great atmosphere in this back to basics pub. Just my kind of boozer.

Busy with a visit by the Thursday evening mild drinkers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Blackjack - Double Bluff4.80ExcellentPale strong bitter with a good hop character of tropical fruit and gooseberry suggesting use of Nelson Sauvin hop. My score 16/20.
London Fields - Shoreditch Triangle IPA6.00ExcellentStrong pale IPA style beer with a good citrus hop character and a smooth malt base. My score 16/20.
East London (ELB) - Orchid Vanilla Mild3.60ExcellentDark brown/ruby mild with a good dose of vanilla to give a sweetish edge to the chocolate malt base. Full bodied for its strength. My score 16/20.
Boggart - Dark Mild4.00GoodDark ruby/black mild with moderate roast malt bitterness and a little fruit in the finish. My score 15/20.
Late Knights - Old Red Eyes4.50AcceptableStill brewed at Truefitt brewery before they find a London base, this was a red ale with rather an over balance of crystal malt giving a rather cloying and sweet taste to the beer. Dryish, bitter finish. My score 14/20.

First stop on the way home from the GBBF taking advantage of the direct and crowded trains from Olympia to Gospel Oak. A really great atmosphere in here tonight. I have not listed all the beers that were available.
BeerABVScoreNotes
London Fields - Hackney Hopster4.20ExcellentMagnificent. Probably the most grapefruity beer that I have ever tried.
Buxton - American Rye4.30Good

The pub is found in Gospel Oak, Greater London, NW5 1LE.

Reopened as a traditional freehouse, this pub has a very retro feel about it, with tungsten lighting, bare boards and minimal decoration. Lots of handpumps dispense local microbrewers' products and there are several real ciders on handpump too. 12 handpumps, vinyl music played and renowned pies, savouries and hot rolls all play their part in making this a very successful and well patronised pub.

We have visited this pub 26 times, seen 128 different beers and tried 56 of them.
