Mid afternoon and a quiet oasis compared to the hubbub outside.

Early evening. The garden is proving popular tonight and there are a few people inside eating from the burger menu. The sense of notoriety seems to diminish each time I come here. Still expensive though. A house beer was also for sale.

This pub has moved relatively up-market in recent years and now plays down its colourful past (although there is still some Kray memorabilia on sale). Crazily expensive (£4 for a pint of Courage Best anyone?). Very busy tonight, mostly with ticketless Olympic tourists from all corners of the globe, watching the swimming on TV.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Courage Best Bitter (use Marston's entry now please)4.00GoodThis beer has dramatically improved since brewing was moved to Bedford and there was a return to the use of better quality ingredients. A good malty flavour with some English hop bitterness at the end.
Greene King - Morland Old Speckled Hen4.50Not Tried

This used to be one of my regular haunts when I worked just across the road from here. I was passing by on my way to Whitechapel station and decided to pop in for a quick half.
