An interior refurbishment has moved this pub significantly up-market and it now attracts a predominately ‘City’ crowd, in the early evening at least. Very busy tonight.

Something of a nostalgic visit for me to a pub where I was a very regular customer back in the mid to late-1990s, but which I have probably not entered for at least ten years. Looks exactly the same inside, but I did not recognise any staff or customers. This is another pub that has survived the building of a new railway bridge perilously close to its structure.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Caledonian - Summer Valley4.10AcceptableGolden in colour and billed as an American Pale Ale. There are some US hop tastes in the finish, but it is mostly dominated by a sweet maltiness.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride4.10Not Tried
Adnams - Topaz Gold4.00Not Tried

Fairly quiet compared with the bustle of the other nearby market pubs and bars.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Caledonian - Rabbie Burns Amber Ale 70/-3.50AcceptableGrainy, malty 70/- style ale with a sweetish creal malt flavour. Not much hoppiness to speak of. My score 14/20.
