One of my favourite pubs in Antwerp (and there are a few, Kulminator, Waagstuk, Oud Arsenaal) and located right by the Cathedral. Got here at lunchtime with some friends from Ratebeer and had a very pleasant lunch at one of the tables upstairs. A beerlist of around 80 I guess, plus half a dozen on tap. Solid and dependable (great lasagne too)
BeerABVScoreNotes
De Koninck - Blond6.00GoodBelgian yeasty blonde, quite creamy and full in mouth. Refreshing blonde with some citrus, but mostly yeasty. Good though. Dryish finish.

Came back here for our last pub as we thought that it had the best atmosphere overall. We even bumped into an Australian couple that we had been queueing with at a tram stop a couple of hours before. Sat downstairs this time, with good table service. We even managed to order pizza at just short of midnight. Not too many pubs I know are still serving food at that time. Excellent bustling atmosphere, but relaxed at the same time. Had Boon Kriek in bottle twice as it is just so lovely
BeerABVScoreNotes
De Koninck - De Koninck5.00GoodChestnut colour with thin beige head. Yeasty aroma, sweet malt in mouth. Some citrus fresh aroma. Good simple amber beer which is very drinkable but not as flavoursome as the cask version in the UK

Got here around 23.15 after driving around Antwerp trying to find our hotel. Nearly full and Martin and I got the last table which was up in the gallery overlooking the bar. Stays open until late so we had plenty of time to peruse the beer list. I also had the Malheur 10, Vlaskop, Troubadour Obscura and Gildenbier all in bottle on this visit
BeerABVScoreNotes
De Koninck - Winterkoninck6.50GoodReddy/brown beer with beige head. Served a mite bit too cold. Malty red fruit aroma, some hop. Sweetish toffee in mouth, some yeast on aroma and finish. Drying hop finish

The pub is found in Antwerp, Belgium.

Wonderfully situated bar next to the cathedral. There is the ground floor with the bar to the right as you enter with an upper gallery floor. Big plate glass windows allow you to look out onto the cathedral and the passing tourists. Wooden beam ceiling, cream walls, dark wood, mirrors and fake marble top tables make up the interior. There isn't a huge amount of seating, but it is cosy and it has a good atmosphere. Beer menu has around 80 beers on draught and in bottle

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 4 different beers and tried them all.
