Free to visit all Historic Scotland properties this weekend so I had been to Doune Castle with some friends. It was unbelievably busy at the Castle compared to last time I visited (with Ian, Martin and Andrew) so it was nice to go somewhere quiet afterwards. Pleased to note a couple of hand pumps. Only one working though and I didn't sample. Hot chocolate was good though.

About the Sheriffmuir Inn

Website.

The pub is found in Sheriffmuir, Stirling, FK15 0LN.

Isolated pub high up on the back road from Bridge of Allan to Braco. Jacobite battle site. The "get on with it" bits from Monty Python and the Holy Grail were filmed somewhere up here. Family friendly eating place with play area. Hercules the bear used to live here. It has changed hands a few times in recent years. Stunning location - lovely on a sunny spring day - nice place to come and watch the lambs gambling around.

We have visited this pub once, seen 1 beer and tried 0 of them.
