Evening until 11pm close. Enticed by the emailed offer of a free G&T on Her Maj. Visit rather ruined by people in the bar shouting at each other rather than talking sanely.

Evening. Rammed on the outside pavement, a little more relaxed inside although people seemed to be shouting at each other in the Dryden Room upstairs.

Pouring rain outside means that it is packed shoulder to shoulder around the bar in here, although I find some space in the little back room.

My first visit here since this pub was acquired by Fullers in 2011. Nothing much seems to have changed except the prices, which have rocketed. Still a classic London boozer.

Old-style pub in the heart of Covent Garden with loads of seating upstairs. Decent range of beers, although leans towards Young's. Pleasant Staff and nice atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wells & Young's (Charles Wells now) - Young's Special4.50ExceptionalAmber in colour, with a fruity body and bitter at the end of the sip. Lighter than other bitters, this is a really refreshing pint.
Wells & Young's (Charles Wells now) - Courage Directors4.80GoodMahogany and with a stronger malt taste, Director's is a full flavoured, robust beer with vine fruits in the body and a slightly smoky aftertaste.

It was busy here, so we ended up persuading 2 lesbians to let us sit at their table. I enjoyed this place even though it did seem a bit cramped. 6 beers on with a good choice. Pleasant surroundings.

Wells & Young's (Charles Wells now) - Young's Bitter3.70GoodI am constantly surprised at how good this beer is. Nice hops and good bitterness make you want to keep drinking it.
