Quiet on a post- Bank Holiday lunchtime:we'd come for a family meal, and sat under the window stamped "property of William Weaver,Landlord of the Black Horse": something I'd not seen before. Apparently the pub was the Black Horse before the Caxton.

We'd been to a Coronation Fair on the Rec' and thought we'd try this. All the time I've lived in the area, I'd never been here as The William Caxton.Sunday early afternoon-several folk eating lunch and several here for drinks.

Early afternoon on a Bank Holiday Monday, just two other customers, one of whom was bemoaning the fact that Tenterden does not have a National Rail station and he was having difficulty getting a taxi to Headcorn. I came up with the novel idea of catching the Number 12 bus and not paying Bank Holiday taxi rates. He caught the bus.

Afternoon, a few customers at the bar discussing cheap train tickets and a group at the far end finishing a meal. A welcoming pub.

Friday lunchtime. We called in on Kent Air Ambulance collection box duties and it seemed rude not to have a beer.

Early afternoon and quiet. All the pump clips were turned round, and I was informed that there was no cask beer available as the lines were being cleaned.

The pub is found in Tenterden, Kent, TN30 6JR.

Found on the edge of Tenterden, in West Cross, this is a lovely old building and very cosy. Sold by Shepherd Neame and being refurbished for a potential November 2022 re-opening and with a new name too. Eventually re-opened April 2023 and now has a new modern interior with an emphasis on food. It still retains the old inglenook fireplace and oak beams.

We have visited this pub 8 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 4 of them.
