This must be the most genteel pub in the area. Very civilised.

Early evening and space in the bar is limited by a well-attended office party. Prices have risen recently, but the landlady assured me that she had put the bulk of this on the lagers and continued to offer a CAMRA discount on the cask beers. Limited selection tonight.

Triple fff - Alton's Pride3.80GoodFirm malt body to this amber beer.

Unusually quiet in here tonight and we enjoy the privilege of sinking into a pair of comfy armchairs.

A busy night here for the presentation of East London & City CAMRA’s East London Pub of the Year 2014 award. Generous hospitality with very tasty snacks and several free beers. Nice to meet up with some people I have not seen for a few months.

I’m surprised to discover that I cannot have been in here in the two and a bit years that I have been contributing to this website. Always a nice place to visit.

The pub is found in Aldgate, Central London, E1 8EN.

This pub in Leman Street was established, initially as the Old Dispensary, in November 1997 in the impressive former buildings of the Eastern Dispensary, a charitable institution founded in 1782. The building had most recently suffered an undistinguished period as a garment factory and much renovation was required by Regent Inns. The pub closed for a year before re-opening as an independent pub in January 2007, the name then abbreviated to Dispensary. Twice winner of the East London & City CAMRA Pub of the Year awards. It is worth having a bit of an explore here – the pub is larger than it first appears. Since renaming to Leman Bar no real ale.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 15 different beers and tried 8 of them.
