Late-afternoon visit – it’s still quiet in Cowes, with the Round the Island race becalmed around the other side of the island somewhere.

Opened in 2013 in Shooters Hill, this little pub is sister to the Newport Ale House, in Newport, Isle of Wight. It is a narrow premises converted from shop use. Cask beers are stillaged behind the bar – micropub style. There is a small outdoor seating area at the back.
