5pm just as the pub opened for the evening. The landlord made me very welcome and talked about the Calthorpe Arms in London. My plans for eating were dashed when I learned that the fish and chip shop up the road closed about a year ago.

Late evening visit, with plenty of locals in situ and two other busy pubs in the immediate vicinity. Unfortunately, an ambulance had to be called after somebody suffered a fall in the back bar.

The pub is found in Felling, Tyne and Wear, NE10 0HQ.

A small pub standing close to Felling Metro station. Often listed as the Wheatsheaf, the signage on the ornate pub frontage suggests that Wheat Sheaf is the correct form. There is a small front bar and an even smaller rear bar, with outside loos beyond. The pub has been connected with the Big Lamp brewery since the late-1980s.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 5 different beers and tried 3 of them.
