This was on my To Do list for tonight but I was told in two other pubs that it was not open this evening so I decided not to make the effort.

A very welcoming place, there were four cask available but I did not make a note of them.

After work beer - only 2 others in - I enquired where Pauline was and very sadly was told that she passed away on Saturday and they were holding the fort temporarily. I had only met her a handful of times but she appeared to be a perfect landlay having resurrected this old pub in the micropub style and was still working part time (at Saga) as well as running the pub. 83 years old apparently, incredible. RIP. Bit shocked so only noted the one beer I tried.

Evening. Quiet so great opportunity to speak to the landlady and a couple who used to drink regularly in the "old" Arlington and the New Mogul Inn in Nell's day. Whilst we sat and nattered all was frenetic outside with Eurotunnel lorries by the hundred passing by - presumably diverted to the Docks.

The pub is found in Dover, Kent, CT17 9BZ.

On Snargate Street in an area originally well pubbed in docklands. In living memory a small Fremlins pub called The Avenue (records show called Perseverance even earlier than that) then renamed The Arlington which converted later to being a Bistro (The Arlington West Bistro) which eventually closed. Now re-opened, after a complete redecoration, on Sunday 31st August 2014 as a Micropub with no bar counter and real ales and ciders served on gravity dispense from a temperature controlled cellar room. The room contains a single level stillage for up to 6 ale casks. Provision of meals at lunchtime is being considered.

We have visited this pub 14 times, seen 20 different beers and tried 14 of them.
