Visits Details

Completely altered since my last visit, it looks very enticing from the outside with a new look inn sign depicting the Buffs East Kent Regiment badge including the Griffin. Inside has been refurbished with polished floor boards, exposed brick work and white tiling behind the bar with the words East Kent in the lettering that was used by the local bus company of that name. The pictures that are currently on this site show the pub before refurbishment.

Still undergoing what looks like a total facelift. Bet they'll ruin the previously rather dark and unspoilt interior.

Evening. Brief visit. Serious darting in full swing. Had forgotten how woody and etched glassy the interior is.

The pub is found in Whitstable, Kent, CT5 1DA.

Originally a multi-roomed traditional pub in Oxford Street at the south end of the shopping area. For many years had original internal door and external window glass panels show it has a Public Bar, Saloon Bar and a self-contained Coffee Room. Extensively refurbished in 2016 and re-opened in October with a bright airy style, typical of latter-day Shepherd Neame refurbishments, that has removed many of the original internal features. 3 handpumps.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 4 different beers and tried 3 of them.
