11 Dec 2014 (HSB)
11:30 The start of a Heritage pub crawl. We were picked up at Micheldever and were on our way to Tichborne when we passed this pub. It looked so inviting we stopped to have a look. The door was open so we went in. Collapse of timetable. Interesting chat with the brewer and tenant. He is on the move to Wiveliscombe to run a different pub and with plans to open a larger plant.

The pub is found in East Stratton, Hampshire, SO21 3DU.

An estate pub owned by Lord Northbrook, situated at the end of a row of identical thatched cottages also owned by the estate. Two rooms and a dining room. The bar is a good basic drinking room. The bar back appears to be Victorian and has come from a another pub. The pub outbuildings contain the village shop, a skittle alley, and as at December 2014 a micro-brewery.

We have visited this pub once, seen 4 different beers and tried 2 of them.
