It’s crowded in here and there are bouncers on the door who want to peer into our bags. They say that they are checking that we are not bringing our own alcohol into the pub to avoid the high prices charged – a growing phenomenon apparently.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Laine - Battersea - Sprung3.90AcceptableThin and lemony.
Laine - Battersea - School of Hops – Azacca4.10AcceptableSo flat that it is rendered near tasteless. Barely ‘acceptable’ to be honest.

It’s a very hot day and almost all the customers are sat in the garden. I’ve had enough sun thank-you and sit inside. But they use the supermarket attitude to temperature control here; instead of just chilling the things that need chilling, they blast-freeze everything including the customers. I’m glad I have a coat on. I’m just about to leave when Crystal Palace Brian walks in, so I suffer the low temperatures for a while longer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Laine - Battersea - London Porter5.00ExcellentA really good Porter, with lots of coffee and chocolate flavours. Thick and rich.
Laine - Battersea - Random Pale Ale4.50GoodA very decent, light, fruity, US-style Pale Ale.
Laine - Battersea - Cuddle Me-Buff4.10PoorYuk, yuk, yuk. This beer reeked of crystal malt. Tangy to the point of acidity. It may have been ‘off’, I’m not sure – I’m now so averse to this type of beer that I cannot tell.

We decided to call in here prior to visiting the Battersea Theatre of Beer down the road. Surprisingly we were the only customers so rattled around the vast premises.
