Lunchtime just one other customer soon joined by a few others during our stay. Friendly welcome from the landlord in this proper drinkers pub worthy of its GBG entry plus the 20 minute uphill trek from Chorleywood station.

Warm and welcoming after a snowy Chiltern hike. Last day of a pub beer festival. Not particularly busy.

What an excellent pub. The locals were friendly and told me a bit about the Red Squirel brewery as I'd never heard of it. I can see why this pub won the CAMRA East Anglia Region pub of the year.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Buntingford - Challenger3.80ExcellentRich gold colour. Grapefruit hop with some green grass flavours. Long, strong and earthy bitter finish
Mad Squirrel (formerly Red Squirrel) - Dark Ruby Mild3.70GoodRuby brown buscuity beer with hint of smoke. Dry and astringnt
Mad Squirrel (formerly Red Squirrel) - Conservation Bitter4.10AcceptableBrown copper coloured beer. Sweet and slightly cloying beer. Tangy but too much malt-sweetness for me.
Mad Squirrel (formerly Red Squirrel) - Redwood Colorado American IPA5.40AcceptableThe kind of beer Ian would probably think excellent but just not my cup of tea. Rich and very hoppy grape and grapefruit golden beer with a bready aroma.
Tring - Liberty Ale3.70Not TriedJane had this and liked it a lot. It was a brown, malty bitter
Potbelly - Inner Daze4.60Not Tried
