This is what our week in Cumbria has been planned around. We walk the mile in from our rented cottage with the afternoon rain clearing into a lovely, if chilly evening. The site is positioned in the valley (dale?) by the river. Very friendly atmosphere - good music and an excellent choice of 35 regional ales. I list all I tried - plus some other interesting ones.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Pale Rider5.20ExcellentAs the beer notes said - full-bodied, strong and fruity," excellent choice to finish on - before a pleasant walk back - in good daylight after 10 pm. I like this festival.
Hambleton - Stud Blonde4.30ExcellentRichly fruity.
Goose Eye - Chinook Blonde4.20ExcellentNice one to start with - good hoppy bite with a hint of grapefruit.
York (now brewed by and at Black Sheep) - Centurion's Ghost Ale5.40GoodA totally black beer - chewing tobacco springs to mind.
Little Valley - Tod's Blonde5.00GoodYeasty - as a "Belgian style" is supposed to be.

The Beer Festival is found in Dent, Cumbria, LA10 5QA.

A three day event starting Friday evening, 26th June and finishing late afternoon Sunday 28th. Single stage for music inside a large marquee. 35 beers on - mainly with a Yorkshire theme this year. Free entry - but for a £5 wristband all beers are £3 a pint (£4 without). This is the 7th annual festival - the village numbers are swelled with many campers (despite it also being Glastonbury weekend). Don't ask when Florence and the Machine are on!

We have visited this Beer Festival once, seen 20 different beers and tried 6 of them.
