I remember seeing this odd looking pub when my parents took me to the beach as a small child, today was the first time that I looked inside it. It has been expanded since my childhood and now incorporates the former beach cafe which was next door. The pub is now very family friendly but still incorporates some nice dark woodwork, it must have been wonderful in the days when my father popped in here whilst I was making sand castles on the beach.

We needed a trip out and I've never been here although driven past it numerous time. We sat by the window in front of the main bar and watch the waves crash down and the wind turbines whip through the sea mist. The pub was busy with a mixed crowd.

The pub is found in Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 3QH.

In Whiteness Road in the Kingsgate area of Broadstairs, a foody pub with noisy children's room. This cliff-top inn developed out of a Bede House, one of a number of follies built by the eccentric Lord Holland on his Kingsgate estate between 1763 and 1768. The pub is named after Holland's favourite nephew Robert Digby, who had a long distinguished naval career. Disaster struck in 1809 when erosion to the cliff caused part of the inn to fall into the sea. The pub was rebuilt by 1816 and is said to include a wing of the original. Today the pub is essentially the 1816 structure.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 3 of them.
