Early evening and there are plenty of after work drinkers, many of whom are arriving by car. It seems a shame to serve so many cask beers but to stick entirely to ‘safe’ brands.

A large pub on the banks of the River Thames. Substantially modernised inside. The whole of the front area is allocated to diners, with a smaller drinkers’ area to the rear. Modern furnishings. Outside is a decking area, with a car park between the pub and the river.
