The Butcher's Arms is closed Mondays so I thought this a good opportunity to try out the other pubs in Herne. It wasn't too busy in the Upper Red Lion but given the weather that's not too surprising. Friendly enough pub and she poured off the beer before giving me mine so that's a good sign. I noticed that one of the other hand pulls had Greene King IPA turned round.

The Upper Red Lion is found in the centre of Herne village next to the church. Big argument with locals when plans were made to convert to a Tesco convenience store and now converted to housing instead.
