I came in here having found the nearby Jerusalem Tavern closed. Unusual to see this pub quiet and I was able to sit in the little raised area at the rear. Just one handpump in use tonight.

The pub is found in Farringdon, Central London, EC1M 6DB.

High ceilinged corner pub in Cowcross Street adjacent to Farringdon station. It is an ornate, five-storey, mid-terrace building in dark brick. Present by the 1820s, the licensee of the day loaned King George IV some money to place on a bet, on security of a gold watch. As reward he was granted a license to operate as a pawnbroker, and a pawnbrokers sign hangs outside the pub to this day. Historically, this was a Charrington’s house.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 6 different beers and tried 3 of them.
