Fairly busy for a mid afternoon yet despite this a quiet calm and relaxed atmosphere with no noisy folk and soft background music made for a pleasant stay.

Mid afternoon busy yet comfortable relaxed and welcoming to enjoy my pint after managing to dodge the frequent rain showers today..
BeerABVScoreNotes
St Austell - Proper Job4.50ExcellentBeer quality varies considerably here, I was fortunate to pick a day when it was excellent.
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Special (was Special)4.50GoodBears no resemblance to its Young's origins. A once respected brand that should be resigned to the history books IMO.

Late afternoon quiet and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy one's pint compared to the hubbub of traffic and folk outside. Cracking pub spoilt by the unexciting and predictable beer range.

Mid evening fairly busy, no drinking at the bar thus allocated a free table by the attentive staff on entrance duty.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood3.70ExcellentNigh on faultless which was a pleasant surprise, I forced myself to have another just to make sure.
St Austell - Proper Job4.50Not TriedAlas I couldn't try this as pipe cleaning was in progress

Mid evening busy inside in this superb preserved gem of a boozer. Shame about the beer range on tonight.

Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00Not TriedWow this found it's way to London? Naah I must need to visit my opticians soon I think...

Mid afternoon and busy in the main bar but quieter in the Elgin bar where I found myself. I liked the atmosphere here despite the recent refurb.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - Grandstand Bitter3.80GoodThe barman warned me this has been cloudy so offered to pull a few through thence a taster which was fine and soon cleared. I asked if a sparkler was fitted alas he knew not of such devices.
Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00Not TriedRegular scribes can only imagine how tempted I was.
