Visits Details

07 Mar 2020 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 10.30pm close, really 10pm as no more orders taken after then.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bexley - Howbury 29 Mild Ale3.50GoodGood attempt at a nutty dark mild, Bexley's first one I think
Bexley - 6 Nations English Hopped Pale Ale4.40AcceptableBordering on poor, especially when served at the brewery tap. No head, no lacing, no condition and a slight haze with an appley taste - a chore to finish.
Moor - Nor'Hop4.10Not Tried
15 Mar 2019 (Magnus Greel)
Mid afternoon met up with a few of our Friday Evening Group pre venue, another group of chaps arrived shortly after followed by another couple which left standing room only here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bexley - Howbury 20 Cascade5.00ExcellentPeachy fruit punch belied its ABV putting it in the 'dangerously drinkable' category!
Bexley - Hills & Holes Kent Hop Pale3.80GoodRefreshing and light session PA
Moor - Raw4.30Not Tried
01 Jul 2018 (Stephen Harris)
A lunch-time visit following a scenic, if hot, walk along the riverside from Thamesmead to Erith and then a bus ride up the hill. A scattering of customers and the talk is about beer and breweries and beer names.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Breakwater - Spring Tide5.00ExcellentA fragrant / floral golden beer. Very much to my liking and again in very fine condition.
Bexley - Hills & Holes Kent Hop Pale3.80GoodA good, session-strength Bitter. Quite full-bodied for its strength and in very good condition.
Bexley - BOB (Bexley's Own Beer)4.20Not Tried

1730 and open already with a couple of customers in, friendly and enthusiastic welcome from the son of the owner who was also present. We were offered generous amounts of free bowls of tasty peanuts to soak up the beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Redemption - Pale Ale3.80ExcellentDry, crisp light coloured zesty and tangy, superb.
Bexley - Hills & Holes Kent Hop Pale3.80GoodDark in colour and too sweet for what I expect from a PA
Bexley - Session Ruby Ale3.70Not Tried
10 May 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 10pm close. Makes Barnehurst well worth visiting when it had no attraction before. Quite deep discussion with behind the bar about cask and keg.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thames Side - Heron Ale3.70Excellent
Bexley - Hills & Holes Kent Hop Pale3.80Excellent
Bexley - Session Ruby Ale3.70Not Tried
18 Apr 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 10pm close. My first visit here and nearly caught out by the rule that last drinks must be ordered no later than 20 minutes before advertised closing time. Small one room but noise levels were high with 20 or so in residence, suggest needs some soft furnishings or noise baffles to help prevent this.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Bexley - BOB (Bexley's Own Beer)4.20Excellent
Bexley - Hills & Holes Kent Hop Pale3.80GoodTeeny weeny bit too chilled but an easy drinking session ale
Tonbridge - Coppernob3.80Not Tried

Shop conversion small one-roomed Micropub in a row of shops in Barnehurst Road, just down from Barnehurst railway station and doors away from The Red Barn pub, which opened in April 2018 and effectively acts as taproom for Bexley Brewery. Only the second pub in the area after the Red Barn almost next door which opened in 1936. Cask beers sold through 3 handpumps on the bar counter with ciders kept in boxes in the chilled cellar room. There are also 4 keg beer taps on the wall abutting the cellar room. Beware the last order a drink time is actually 30 minutes before the advertised closing time. Seating is at several standard height tables. Garden facilities are in place.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 12 different beers and tried 8 of them.
