The pub is found in Whitechapel, Greater London, E1 1BJ.

This pub was probably established as early as 1752 as the Hospital Tavern, the name being expanded later to London Hospital Tavern. In the early days it sold Hodge’s Brewery beers, later becoming an Ind Coope house. Students of the Kray family history will be aware that this pub has its place, being the location of a violent 1960 showdown between the Krays and the neighbouring Watney Street mob. Through the 80s and 90s it was dismissed in CAMRA publications as being a ‘disco pub’, but by 1997 had been branded by Allied Domecq Inns as a ‘Festival Ale House’, although this was a relatively short-lived incarnation. By 2006 the pub had been painted in vulgar tiger stripes and renamed the LHT Urban Bar, although things have since been toned down. There is a pavement drinking area and three handpumps on the bar. Reverted back to its original name in spring 2020.

We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
