Totally packed out with football fans before an early kick off, but soon dispersed, leaving the pub with just a handful of punters.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Rock - John Player Nottinghamian Celebration Ale4.20GoodDescribed as a light mild, this amber brew had a biscuity malt character and low hopping, just a hint of hps in the finish. My score 15/20.
10 May 2010 (Martin the Mildman)
Quite busy for a Monday lunchtime.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Batemans - Dark Mild3.00ExcellentIn top form here, with a smooth chocolate malt flavour and full bodied mouthfeel for its strength. My score 16/20.

This pub has a long and meandering bar with about 16 handpubs along it. Cam and I got served fairly quickly and sat down at the back of the pub (as it was a bit too cold for outside although that didn't stop many others from sitting out there). The bit of the pub we were in looked like an extension with iron girders forming a cross above the centre of the room. The beer quality was disappointing. The beer wasn't off but it was too cold and every pint we had, or I saw other people having, was served with a very tight sparkler. The effect was that the beer tended to taste of very little.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Tiger4.20PoorNot off but too cold and too tight a sparkler meant that this tasted of just a base-bitterness. No buscuity malt.
Thwaites - Nutty Black3.30PoorWatery, slightly sweet, tarty, black. No nuts that I could taste but then it was too cold and too frothed up.

The pub is found in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, NG2 6BA.

The pub is a 5 minute walk away from the Trent Bridge cricket ground. Interesting breweriana on display including a wall mounted display case of part of the Andrew Cunningham pumpclip collection - containing many older (60s, 70s) items. He was a very early (and still prolific) collector.
