Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

BlairExceptional22 May 2009 I'm always really happy to see this beer. Really fruity with loads of chocolate. Complex and wonderful beer.

IanGood01 Feb 2006 Reddish brown with disappearing head. Slightly syrupy dark red fruity beer with generous hops. Strong and quite heavy. Still the fruit/hop is quite nice with good underlying malt.

BlairExcellent28 Feb 2009 Actually tasted better than the night before. Rich and fruity with lots of chocolate. Beautiful beer.
BlairExcellent27 Feb 2009 Definately not a sgood as it was last year, a little thin in the motuh and not a sstrong flavoured. Still a great beer though. Very fruity with a lot of chocolate as well.

AndrewGood10 Feb 2009 Good condition to it. The initial flavour was just like at the beer festival; reedy. However that passed quickly and the beer was then dominated by coffee-grounds. Where's the red fruit gone?

BlairExcellent06 Feb 2009 This wasn't as good as it was at the Man of Kent last year, a little more watery in the mouth. Still a great beer though, rich, creamy, chocolatey and fruity. Really complex.

BrianGood02 Feb 2007 Started as usual with something familiar. Good, but not great, are Hopdaemon beers not as aggressive as they used to be or is it me?

AndrewExceptional01 May 2006 Supberb. The combination of high alcohol and burnt smoaky malt was fantastic. A rich but mellow raw fruit cake mixture taste was followed by a long smoaky burnt malt bitter finish. If I could give this more than 5/5 I would.
AndrewExcellent11 Mar 2006 Intense but subtly so (paradoxical hey?). Deep malt flavours with subtle toffee and the heat of its high alcohol content. Long strong warming finish
BrianNot Tried24 Feb 2006
IanGood18 Feb 2006 Deep brown/ruby colour with lasting beige head. Not as syrupy as when I had it in Blakes. Some good deep dark fruits and dry malt.
BrianGood18 Feb 2006 I also had this the day before when it seemed better. This was still good with strong citrus flavour.
AndrewExcellent18 Feb 2006 Smooth and herby with deep rich medicine flavours. Quick bitter finish followed by a glowing face. Can't beleive this is 6%!
BrianExceptional26 Nov 2005 First time for me. Fantastic citrus flavour, full of grapefruit and tangerines.

BrianExcellent04 Feb 2006 Went for this first as this is one of my favourites. I think it may have been starting to run out, but it was great. Red fruit, syrup and lots of citrus.
