davidg83Excellent19 Sep 2011 Very nice dark beer. Full of fruit, as close to a slice of fruitcake in a pint glass you can get. Gentle malts also enjoyable served with a lasting off colour head. Good stuff.

Bear & Ragged StaffGood03 Jul 2011 Lots of lovely dark flavours, liqourice, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Well balanced but a little thin on body and a slightly acidic aftertaste.

BlairExcellent25 Jun 2009 Apparently this is a premium bitter. Looks and tastes more like a porter to me. Either way I thought it was fantastic. Light with subtle flavours of coffee and chocolate. A very distinguished beer.

IanExcellent24 Feb 2007 This has got a lovely wide mouthfeel to it. Very good malts and some toasty, coffee, choc flavours and some fruit. A little creamy in the mouth, but a good beer from a really good brewery.

IanExcellent05 Jan 2007 Very deep ruby colour with thick lasting beige head. Maybe getting towards the end of the barrel as it took a bit of pumping to get the pint, which killed some of the carbonation in the glass. Very nice dark ale though. Juicy dark fruits, plums, but not sour and good choc flavours. Finish is really quite drying. Extremely drinkable. Lovely finish. Choc and ark fruit aroam. Some sweet blackberry. Brilliant pint. Full and rich with a bit of puckering of the mouth on the finish.
