Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

AndrewGood20 May 2014 Well I was literally 50m (150ft for those pre '71 refugees) from the brewery! Dark brown clean tasting light bitter (ha ha don't get me started on styles). Bit clinical to be honest.

AndrewExcellent08 Dec 2012 I like Banks. I like their bitter. This mild was jolly good too. Hint of caramel, very low hopping and some watery body. Just want I want from a midland's mild.

ChrisEGood24 Apr 2012 The beer ran out as it was being poured, but the barmaid said she would check the next cask and put it on if it was ready. She connected it, checked the smell and clarity, then tasted it. She warned us that it was a bit fresh, it was quite good really and I had a couple of pints of it.

ChrisEExcellent26 Aug 2010 I liked the beer, and the shiny new pump clips which have replaced the ones that said Original. The barmaid said the casks are still labelled as Original. I really enjoyed this beer and had two pints.

BlairAcceptable08 Jun 2011 Red/brown coloured, I was hoping for a dark mild. Sweet and malty with a slight tang that reminded me of old speckled hen. Not bad but not particularly memorable.
