Hogan SamplingExcellent20 Jun 2026 2nd beer of this visit: A very creamy head and lasting on this dark porter from Wakes Colne*, northeast Essex, and 8 miles northwest of Colchester. A very dry bitter first hit. A roasted maltiness rising from its blend of dark roasted malts winning over giving this porter much of its flavours. A traditional hoppiness from its British Goldings and Fuggles hops. A dry hoppy and malty finish sliding down. Served in top notch condition with superb conditioning. *Their associated pub, The Odd One Out, is on Mersea Road in Colchester.
