Hogan Sampling		20 Jun 2026	2nd beer of this visit: Good head and lasting lacing presented on this session-strength light golden-straw coloured English IPA from the market town of Sudbury, in Suffolk, north-west of Colchester, and where the brewery was founded in 1795. In December 1982 the independent family brewery was re-established. A very lightly fruited first hit with hints of citrusy lemon and zesty grapefruit. A dry hoppiness climbing with a fruity citrus prevailing from traditional English and new-age hops added at different stages of the boil to aid its citrus punch and crisp bitterness. A delicate malt sweetness rising from locally sourced Maris Otter malted barley grown on Mauldons' own Suffolk estate. A dry bitterness lingering. Served in fine fettle.
