IanExceptional22 Apr 2010 Gorgeous, oh what delicious fruits. OK, it's £4 a pint but it is heaven. One of the best beers I've had in a long time. The rich strawberry and raspberry and cherry is simply sublime. Oh man, that is just wonderful.
PedroNot Tried21 Apr 2010 Too strong to try and still £4/pint !
AlenomoreExceptional17 Apr 2010 Saved the best until last! A not overly sweet barley wine that went down well. Due to our archaic UK duty system, this ale was sold at £4 per pint? But my half was spot on!

DubbelGood27 Mar 2009 Really strong, yet somehow mellow and smooth. So pleased that beasty beers like this are stocked and sell so well here.

IanExceptional27 Jan 2007 Most of the people around the table where I was sat thought that this was the best of the beers on. And I wouldn't disagree. Sweet strawberry fruit is great. Sweet, strong with a great hop kick. There were some Stoke City fans in for a drink before the Fulham FA Cup game and they hadn't seen this before and someone ordered a pint before his mate pointed out that it was 9%. He quickly changed his mind. Good on them though, they did try a half before they left.

IanExcellent14 Jan 2007 Ruby, thin beige head. Gorgeous rich strawberry fruit and grapefruit aroma. Some syrupyness, but utterly wonderful and drinkable with some hop presence on the end. The alcohol never takes over too much.
IanNot Tried22 Feb 2006 Really wish I had tried it though as I love Hog's Back barley wines, but I was driving.

IanExcellent19 May 2006 This had developed since the previous day. The sweetness was still there, but the strawberry and grapefruit were more pronounced. Just a stunning beer. After 3 halves (they won't serve it in pints, I don't blame them) in an hour, I was in a completely different place of my own, somewhere near the Mighty Boosh I think. I was so drunk it was unbelievable.
IanExcellent18 May 2006 Reddy/chestnut beer with bubbly disappearing head. Sweet hop and candy sugar sweet aroma. Thick in mouth, good hit of alcohol which is warming but not unpleasant. Grapefruit and raisin fruit flavours. Really rather good. Like the other Hog's Back barley wines/strong beers, this is excellent. Just the right mix of intense hop and alcoholic strength.
