Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

BlairExceptional13 Feb 2011 I'm not sure if this has improved or if it's just because I was really looking forward to a beer but this was sensational.
BlairExcellent17 Feb 2010 Intensely hoppy and fruity. Brilliant beer.

BlairExcellent04 Mar 2010 The recipe seems to have changed from what I remember it, still aggressively hoppy but without the bitter aftertaste. If it has changed I think I prefer this version.
IanExceptional01 Apr 2009 This stands up well against US IPAs. Big resinous full on hops.

AndrewExcellent17 May 2008 Well we think it was this and it fits so that's what it was. Light straw coloured beer with a JHB like hop character and a very drying hop finish. Lovely.
BlairExcellent18 Apr 2008 This beer is outstanding, although I don't remember passed the second pint of it.

IanAcceptable12 Apr 2008 Bit disappointed with this (although nothing to do with how Martyn kept it) as at the Thanet BF at Easter the hops were a lot more crunchingly green on the finish. A little bit syrupy in the malts too. But difficult for this beer as I have drunk so much of the Stone DIPA in the past 2 weeks.

BlairExcellent27 Feb 2009 Strange having this straight after the Jaipur, both incredibly hoppy yet both so very different. I think I prefer this one, got almost a barley wine flavour to it.
BlairExcellent14 Feb 2009 Equally good as it was last night. Intensely hoppy with bags of fruit.
BlairExcellent13 Feb 2009 This is a great beer but it really knocks you for six. Extremely hoppy as you'd expect, loads of fruit especially grapefruit. So easy to drink.

IanExceptional21 Mar 2008 First beer of the festival and one of about 5 that I was genuinely excited about. Gold with lasting beige head. Big PNW grapefruity aroma. Fruity grapefruit in mouth, malts are a bit syrupy, rather than biscuity. Hops on finish are really crunchingly green and attack the mouth. Great English beer for a hophead like me. Lovely.

Montefiore Arms, Ramsgate, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
BlairExcellent22 Feb 2008 Slightly hazy amber coloured with a frothy, off-white head. Big aroma of grassy, spicy hops. Sweet caramel balancing mouth puckering hops and a warming alcohol finish. Extremely good.
