DubbelExcellent24 Aug 2009 My fuzzled ale memory doesn't recall this tasting like this last year. Very tangy, distinctly English hop & malt flavours. Clean and crisp. Lovely.

DubbelExceptional07 Nov 2008 Dull amber coloured Autumnal brew with trademark DS heavy/late hopping that leaves a dry, bitter finish. Eminently drinkable. Gorgeous.

BlairGood29 Sep 2009 Marked as 4.2%. Typical hoppy dark star ale in a lot of ways, although slightly darker and with a little more malt and fruit. Good beer, but pales in comparison to the likes of hophead and the apa in my opinion.

The Market Porter, Southwark, Central London

IanGood08 Sep 2009 The half disappeared before I knew it. Had the necessary Dark Star hoppiness with a bit of warming malt. Would have drunk this all night.

IanExcellent09 Nov 2006 Aromatic autumnal ale according to the pump clip. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Aromatic American hop aroma, bit of cat pee. Good in mouth, decent juicy malt, before sherberty earthy hop cuts in and lasts and lasts. Beautifl. Utterly drinkable. Gorgeous hop/malt balance. Resiny piney hop.
