Late evening brief visit. First time I have seen metered self-service keg taps at some tables.

This pub was renamed the Thirsty Bear in around 2012 and now has more of a ‘sports bar’ feel, with individual digital screens on some tables. I last came in here in around 1983 when my father worked in the area. Given tonight’s offhand service and poor beer quality, I reckon it might be another thirty year gap before my next visit.

Our group had use of the upstairs bar this evening. Otherwise the pub was fairly quiet for a Thursday evening.

The pub is found in Southwark, Central London, SE1 9LX.
Formerly the Stamford Arms. Large corner pub covering 2 floors. The ground floor is pubbish on two levels with 3 handpumps on the bar counter, whilst upstairs is innovative with screens on the tables for ordering drinks, food, juke box songs and browsing the internet. Some tables are equipped with metered self-service keg beer taps. There is a bar upstairs but with no handpumps.
We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 8 different beers and tried 5 of them.
