Wild's - Wild Summer4.20GoodGolden colour. Citrus, hay, hip nose, some tangy orangey fruit flavours. Slightly tangy finish with more orange/tangerine flavours

Reportedly the last time this event will be held at the Rare Breeds Centre. Run by the local CAMRA branch, it is held in a marquee in one of the fields with about 40 beers available on gravity. Beer quality was a lot better than 2004. Selection of beers was from all over the country with a mixture of styles. As the weather was windy and raining for most of the evening, it generated a very convivial atmosphere in the marquee
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid3.70ExceptionalThe type of beer I love. Golden, good hop nose, with citric/lemon flavours. Good sherberty flavour with tangy lemon on the tongue. Superb
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Sneck Lifter5.10ExceptionalDark ruby colour. Coffee, dark roasted malts. Really intense chocolate/coffee flavours througout and a longish finish. Dryness at end doesn't let this get out of control. Gorgeous
Harviestoun - Navigator4.30ExcellentGolden brown. Sweet hoppy nose, sweetish malt in mouth with good flowery hoppy finish. Typical Harviestoun hop flavour make this a pleasure to drink
Westerham - Grasshopper Kentish Bitter3.80ExcellentNow I liked this a lot. I have had other Westerham beers and not been entirely impressed. mid brown tobacco/tea flavours, some good green hops with hoppy finish. I could easily do a session on this
Phoenix - West Coast I.P.A.4.60ExcellentOrangey brown. American hop nose distinctive of Phoenix beers. Some fruit and malts with citrus flavour. Hoppy dry finish with more tangy hops. This is almost the ideal beer for me
Oakham - JHB3.80GoodMy favourite beer. Very pale blond. Very lively (needed to settle a bit) but still got grapefruit/hop finish and tangyness
Goacher's - Gold Star5.10AcceptableGolden. Hoppy citrus. Strong alcohol kick. Martin had another pint which was creamy and terrific. Perhaps I had the first one out and it needed a bit of oxidation
Freeminer - Speculation4.80AcceptableChestnut colour, slight rubbery smell, some hops leading to caramel malt flavour. Fullish in mouth, kick of alcohol, longish slightly burnt treacle finish. Okay but I like something a bit more hoppy
Lincolnshire Craft (formerly Tom Wood's) - Barn Dance4.20PoorI had this because I hadn't heard of the brewery before. Golden colour, malty flavour but not to my taste. Some citrus fruit
White Star - Majestic4.20PoorChestnut colour, malty, some goodish fruit, bit of rubber, alright really, dry bitter finish
03 Jun 2005 (Andrew)
It was a stormy evening which meant that everyone had to crowd into the beer tent. This gave the whole even a very cosy atmospheric feel
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hop Back - Summer Lightning5.00ExcellentAggresively bitter, yellow beer. Nearly back to how it was 10 years ago
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Pale Rider5.20ExcellentDark yellow colour with a rich earthy taste and a finish of metalic hops
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentOn top form.
Rother Valley - Smild3.80GoodA quality mild with a dark earthy taste to it
Stonehenge - Spring Ale3.80GoodPale yellow colour with a taste of a moorland stream to it
Goacher's - Real Mild Ale3.40AcceptableBit weak tasting for this usually fantastic beer
Summerskills - Tamar4.30AcceptableCaramel brown colour with the smell of whiskey to it.
Clark's (sometimes shown as Westgate Brewery) - Classic Blonde3.90AcceptableSulphouous nose, pale yellow colour, hoppy with a peaty metalic finish
