15:00 Fairly quiet, sat in the central settle snug by the old range. This is my favourite pub in the country. Been coming here for years, always feel very comfortable.

We sat in the dining room and enjoyed our beer and tasty local food on a May Monday evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Adnams - Fat Sprat3.80ExceptionalA really tasty amber beer, using a mix of English and New World hops. Complex malt with grapefruit memories. Reminded me of Gadds No 5.
Adnams - Ghost Ship4.50GoodCrisp and citrussy. A bit different from Adnam's traditional style.
Colchester - Double Brown Ale4.40GoodDark ruby, chocolatey. A bit sweet for me after the Fat Sprat. A good mild, left over from the weekend beer festival.

We needed to get Isabel to sleep so we drove for an hour to Laxfield. What a lovely pub this is. The inside has a number of snugs which are perfect for escaping the trappings of modern life so you can enjoy your pint. Unfortuneately there was a private party going on which meant we couldn't get into the garden but we sat out the front and stared across the quiet road to the church opposite. To be honest, I could have sat there all day.
